Brian brings an enormous wealth of business and management experience and skills to the role. He bought a drycleaning business with two employees in 1986, knowing nothing about the process and took it to 30 employees and three sites. Brian is a former DIA VIC President, Drycleaner of the Year, and was a respected member of the industry through to his retirement seven years ago. Brian has actually been very active in the business world, and maintained his friendships within the industry, and is a regular attendee at The Golden Oldies luncheons.
Since taking on the role of Membership Liaison Officer in Victoria in 2014 he has brought the Membership from 49 to 75 – and cleaners are now phoning him wanting to join the Victorian Association! (One hopes he will work the same magic on a national scale.) Members have enjoyed 4 no-cost industry events.
Largely an ‘unknown quantity’ in NSW, on Tuesday, 15th December Brian met with the Executive Committee of DIA NSW and myself. We discussed the way forward for our state in 2016, with potential for Seminars and Member Meetings, and the mood was very positive.
Having attended DIA VIC’s weekend Bus Tour (see last issue of the NATIONAL) I can tell you Brian has boundless energy and a real passion for the drycleaning industry.
You will meet Brian in a full article in the next issue of the NATIONAL. In the meantime, www.drycleanersweb.com.au for DIA membership news.
