Unemployment steady at 5.5 per cent

Australian Bureau of Statistics Reports:

In good economic news, full time employment grew by 9,000 in January, while part-time jobs got a 14,000 job bump.

We are starting to get very close to the one million jobs under the Coalition when former prime minister Tony Abbott took office.

That is an extraordinary rate of growth in anyones book.

Better yet, most of the heavy lifting has been done by full time work – despite the persistent misconception that only part-time “gig economy” work is growing.

Full-time work has now increased by around 292,000 since January 2017 and makes up the majority of the 395,000 net increase in employment over the period.
