The Textile Rental and Laundry Association of Australia (TRLAA) have re-structured to meet the changing needs and dynamics of the national laundry industry. The TRLAA was a state representative Board, where representation was being depleted in some states. Under the new Laundry Association Australia (LAA) companies will become members – enabling them to shape the association and influence issues affecting the industry. The inaugural meeting (Special General Meeting) of the LAA will be held on February 23 2016.

Mid last year a review was conducted by the TRLAA Board which focused on the rationalisation of the industry and the reduction in active state associations. A decision was made to review the constitution and to create a national company based membership changing the face of representation in the industry. South Australia is active; however most other states have struggled or are non-existent.

So the journey commenced. A new constitution was drawn up; change in structure; a code of conduct was developed; and industry relationships were rekindled or consolidated. To commence the new entity we will be having a Special General Meeting to nominate a new board; vote on the motion to accept the new constitution; and establish a new membership base, based on the new membership category definitions.

The Special General meeting of the LAA will be on 23/2/16 at Level 2, 441 St Kilda Road, Melbourne (AI Group offices). The Laundry Association Australia is a company limited by guarantee. The Australian Industry Group has been supporting the Association through these changes and we look forward to a new start, new members, and new drive.
