Nick Bancroft, Roger Bancroft, and Brian Tonkin at one of the great “Golden Oldies” luncheons.

It is with deepest regret that I inform you of the passing of Roger Bancroft this morning, 30th March,  following his battle with cancer. Roger died peacefully with his family present.

For those of us fortunate to know Roger as a friend and mentor he will be remembered as a respected leader of the Drycleaning Industry and as President of DIA for many years, both at Victorian state level, and nationally.

Always at the forefront of industry change, Roger is credited with the first perc machine in Australia. POS seemed a logical step and he brought it to Australia and nurtured the business relationship with Brian Smith that has made DCCS Australia one of the foremost allied traders in our country. Roger also recognised the benefits of GreenEarth when it debuted at CleanShow 1999 in Orlando, Florida, and together with Deborah Rechnitz and Karl Chehade brought that cleaning medium DownUnder.

A respected and energetic President of International Drycleaners Congress, he brought IDC conventions to Australia and opened the door to many international friendships within our industry which continue to flourish today. Indeed, Roger dedicated himself to the growth and professionalism of our industry for the whole of his life.

He will continue to be honoured and sadly missed by his many friends and colleagues within Australia, and Internationally.

Our deepest sympathy to his loving family.
